Responsibilities:
- Follow a garden site layout (approximately 1/3 acre) including: bed preparation, planting and seeding, weeding, building and maintaining infrastructure, harvesting, and post-harvest activities (washing, packing and storing)
- Use hand tools and power equipment
- Use organic practices (Not certified)
- Winter garden preparation
- Assist in maintaining 1km trail
Requirements:
- An all-round knowledge of farming best practices, this includes how to: use garden tools and equipment,plant and maintain crops, and identify potential threats to plants and soil.
- Experience working on organic vegetable farms/gardens
- Physical stamina to work outside to perform physically demanding and sometimes strenuous tasks in different weather conditions
- Self-motivated, reliable and able to work flexibly
- Able to give and follow instructions carefully and accurately
- A valid G2 or G driver’s license
Schedule: up to 32 hours per week during growing/harvesting season. Afternoon and weekend shifts as needed.
Start Date: May 1, 2023
End Date: November 1, 2023 (approximately end of growing season)
Rate of Pay: $21.00 – $23.00
